National Public Lands Day Toyota Tours

For the past four years, NPLD Director Robb Hampton has traveled across America, from the Big Apple to the Golden Gate, to visit NPLD sites and present public land managers and friends groups with small grants to assist with their volunteer work projects.

In 2008, Robb delivered $1,000 grants to 13 sites in the Northeast, Mid Atlantic, New England, Midwest and Upper Rocky Mountain regions of the United States in a hybrid Prius donated by Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. The 2008 Tour showcased NPLD's One Million Tree Planting Initiative that commemorated the 75th anniversary of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Read more about the 2008 Tour.

In 2007, Robb traveled throughout the Southeast, from New Orleans to Washington, D.C. delivering checks to eight sites in the hybrid version of the Toyota Highlander. The NPLD Tour coincided with Toyota's "Highway to the Future" Mobile Hybrid Synergy Tour.

In 2006, Robb traveled coast to coast visiting 13 NPLD sites in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Montana and California and presenting them with small grants. The 2006 Tour culminated with an event at Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Francisco.

In 2005, the first NPLD Toyota Tour was launched, as Robb visited public land sites in California, making his way from Los Angeles and San Francisco in a wrapped hybrid Toyota Highlander.
